Praia do Futuro
Stretching about 8 km east of the city, Praia do Futuro is the beach Fortaleza residents love most. The standout feature is the barracas — enormous beach restaurants right on the sand, with tables, waitstaff and a full menu of seafood and ice-cold chope. The best time to visit is early morning on weekends, when it is still cool and you can get a spot easily. On Thursdays the famous Quinta do Futuro draws huge crowds of locals for an informal weekly beach gathering.
