About Museu da Indústria

A grand old hotel full of industry

The Museu da Indústria belongs to Ceará’s federation of industries (FIEC) and SESI, and covers more than 2,000 m² downtown. The building first housed the Sociedade União Cearense and later the Grande Hotel do Norte (Diário do Nordeste, January 2026). It faces the Passeio Público park on Rua Dr. João Moreira.

Since October 2024 it has shown "Caminhos do Café no Ceará", about coffee in Ceará. An exhibition on electricity sits in the building that housed the state power company from 1935 to the late 1980s. In 2024 it had 40,043 visitors, its best year since opening a decade earlier (Economic News Brasil, 2025).

✅ Good for

  • A free, cool hour downtown
  • Coffee lovers
  • Sunday mornings, when many museums open later

⚠️ Less good for

  • Mondays: closed
  • The last Tuesday of the month: closed too
Tip: Go at the weekend, when there are guided visits of the coffee exhibition (Diário do Nordeste, January 2026). Then cross the road into the Passeio Público.
